For those of you that still don’t know what kite skimming is, here is the proper definition of the sport:
Kite skimming is one of the newest areas within the kiting sport. As with kite boarding, snow kiting and kite surfing we use kites (the same kites) to skim over the water, the only difference is that we use a different kind of board.
We use skim boards, this allows us to do an unlimited variation of tricks, very similar to the kind of tricks skate boarders and wake skaters perform. We are also able to do wave riding and rail slides. Our boards do not have straps and some of them don't even have fins.
This area of kiting has grown so much that we are starting to see more and more kiting brands producing skim boards for kiting. We are also seeing lots of skim board shapers making boards for this puropose too.
When kite skimmers started to appear on different spots around the world people believed that kite skimming was a light wind sport. As time has passed we have proven that is much more than that. We are riding in stronger conditions, over 35 knots at times and huge overhead waves.
